About this role

RefinedScience is seeking an experienced Clinical Data Manager 2 to join an interdisciplinary team of computational biologists, data scientists, data engineers, cancer biologists, and clinicians. The team develops new therapies for cancer and other diseases. Our mission advances care by uniting the best science, data, and minds – disease by disease, patient by patient, cell by cell.

You will handle data abstraction by collaborating on documentation of data definitions and procedures. Efficiently identify and abstract pathology, treatment, and clinical data from medical records. Maintain REDCap database for disease areas while ensuring thorough accuracy.

Conduct quality control by thinking critically to spot abstraction issues and perform reviews on others' work. Review data quality dashboards, make corrections, and address questions from data scientists, bioinformaticians, and clinical scientists. Manage process documentation in a multidisciplinary environment.

Engage in teamwork by translating healthcare concepts for data engineering and coordinating with clinicians on procedures. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field
  • 2+ years of data abstraction experience including knowledge of basic medical terminology and the use of electronic medical records
  • Organized with great attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • Willing to learn and ask questions
  • Possess high levels of curiosity, initiative, and self-motivation
  • Flexible to adapt in a rapidly growing startup environment
  • Manage time well and be able to prioritize
  • Team player who is collaborative and can work in an independent environment

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in the development and maintenance of documentation of data definitions and abstraction procedures
  • Efficiently identify and abstract pathology, treatment and other clinical data from medical records
  • Maintain REDCap database for disease area(s)
  • Think critically to identify potential problems affecting the abstraction process for improvement and quality control
  • Perform quality review on work completed by other data abstractors
  • Review data quality dashboards and make corrections
  • Address data quality questions from a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, bioinformaticians, and clinical scientists
  • Coordinate with clinicians for clarification on abstraction procedures and clinical concepts
