About this role

The Country Medical Affairs Head serves as the lead medical representative in the country and a trusted advisor to the Country Leadership Team. The role defines and executes the near and long-term medical strategy. It drives scientific and medical excellence across disease areas and ensures best in class launch readiness.

Shape the external healthcare environment and foster partnerships with healthcare communities and governmental entities that improve patient outcomes. Lead, develop, and transform the medical organization to meet evolving business, scientific, and ecosystem expectations. Accountable for integrated and innovative evidence plans, developed and executed early, to ascertain optimal access and patient outcomes.

Interface with external stakeholders including KOLs, scientific/medical societies, regulatory bodies, HTA organizations, patient associations, policymakers, investigators, and universities. Internally, engage Country President, TA Heads, Value & Access, Regulatory Affairs, Public Affairs, and regional/global medical teams. As a member of the Country Leadership Team, deliver high organizational impact shaping medical strategy and product success.

Oversee medical budget including evidence generation, capability building, launch investments, and external engagement activities. Make strategic decisions on medical resource allocation, talent, capability build, and prioritization of the Country Medical Tactical Plan. Champion innovative and digital approaches for data generation, insights, and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • Advanced medical or pharmaceutical degree
  • Proven leadership in country-level medical affairs
  • Expertise in developing and executing medical strategies aligned with global priorities
  • Experience leading evidence generation including RWE, IITs, and observational studies
  • Strong track record in KOL engagement, scientific societies, and HTA interactions
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance, health policy, and launch readiness in pharma
  • Ability to oversee medical budgets and resource allocation
  • Proficiency in transforming medical organizations for evolving ecosystems

Responsibilities

  • Shape, lead, and execute the country medical strategy aligned with global and international priorities
  • Serve as the scientific, ethical, and medical authority on the Country Leadership Team
  • Influence health policy, guidelines, and care standards through proactive engagement with authorities, payer bodies, scientific societies, and ecosystem partners
  • Lead integrated evidence generation plans addressing local data gaps including RWE, observational studies, IITs
  • Drive early, end-to-end launch readiness including diagnostics, biomarkers, KOL mobilization, medical education, evidence requirements
  • Ensure full scientific integrity and medical accuracy across all internal and external engagements
  • Oversee local data generation activities including IITs, non-interventional studies, and MAPs programs
  • Collaborate on execution of global clinical research locally with CRMA and Development
