The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) embodies Bristol Myers Squibb's medical mission as the trusted partner for internal stakeholders and the healthcare community. Drives scientific exchange to enhance medical education, data generation, insight generation, and patients’ access to medicine. Identifies disease and product-related medical needs in a defined geography.

Develops and maintains relationships with Thought Leaders and Healthcare Providers within their healthcare system. Engages in peer-to-peer discussions aligned with medical strategies and external stakeholder needs. Serves as the medical resource for external stakeholders in the community.

Uses various channels for interactions including 1:1, group presentations, and remote engagements. Actively assesses the medical landscape by meeting with TLs, HCPs, and access stakeholders. Collects meaningful medical insights to support strategy development and business decisions.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree such as PharmD, MD, or PhD in relevant therapeutic area
  • Deep knowledge of disease states, clinical trials, and health economics outcomes research
  • Experience developing relationships with thought leaders and healthcare providers
  • Proficiency in scientific presentations and responding to unsolicited medical questions
  • Understanding of competitive landscape and evolving healthcare models
  • Ability to ensure compliance with ethical, legal guidelines, and local procedures
  • Expertise in facilitating investigator-sponsored research and data generation

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with academic and community thought leaders, HCPs, and access stakeholders
  • Engage in scientific exchange using various channels including 1:1, group presentations, and remote interactions
  • Effectively present scientific information to TLs/HCPs and respond to questions ensuring medical accuracy
  • Actively assess the medical landscape to understand needs and expertise of TLs/HCPs/access stakeholders
  • Continuously update knowledge in treatment strategies, products, unmet needs, clinical trials, and HEOR
  • Identify opportunities to partner with HCPs on disease state initiatives, collaborative research, and investigator-sponsored research
  • Attend medical congresses and local/regional meetings
  • Collect and provide meaningful medical insights to medical and commercial organizations
