About this role

Plasmidsaurus accelerates new cures by unlocking productivity for scientists with sequencing services used by thousands of innovators, Nobel laureates, and Fortune 100 pharma. You'll work on the bioinformatics engine powering this impact, wearing many hats in a fast-moving biotech environment. The role drives the future of research with efficient, global-scale sequencing.

Build blazing-fast, production-grade bioinformatics workflows processing thousands of samples daily. Develop novel algorithms turning raw sequencing data into fast, intuitive insights. Stay on top of cutting-edge tools, integrate them into pipelines, and tame real-world data chaos including biological artifacts.

Thrive with high agency, leading projects from idea to production in a tight-knit, collaborative team. Get excited at the intersection of biology, algorithms, and software engineering. Value clear communication while helping others level up in an energized, fast-paced setting.

Mentor teammates and grow skills in a collaborative environment accelerating medicines and biotechnology. Expand disruptive models from plasmid sequencing to all genomics, including new RNA-seq services. Contribute to sequencing everything for faster, simpler access to discovery data.

Requirements

  • PhD in a quantitative field (Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Physics) plus 3+ years building production bioinformatics pipelines
  • Deep expertise in at least one of: microbial genomics (assembly/metagenomics), variant calling / large-scale genomics, or bulk/single-cell RNA-seq
  • Significant experience with production Nextflow or Snakemake pipelines, including cloud deployments
  • Strong understanding of core sequence analysis principles — alignment, assembly, and beyond
  • Solid molecular biology foundation and hands-on experience with Illumina or Oxford Nanopore sequencing
  • Proficiency in Python (numpy, pandas, biopython, Jupyter) and conda-based package management
  • Docker / Apptainer / Singularity, Git + GitHub
  • Experience building intuitive web tools for bioinformatics analysis
