Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) are field-based experts providing deep content knowledge on Immunology/Rheumatology disease states, Lilly and competitive compounds. They facilitate scientific exchange with Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) who treat patients and conduct research.
MSLs engage in continuous learning to maintain cutting-edge expertise and respond to diverse medical information needs from customers. They spend the majority of time on customer-facing activities, applying emotional intelligence and strategic thinking to deliver positive experiences. MSLs connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources and facilitate collaborative research opportunities.
MSLs demonstrate territory ownership through strategic planning, prioritization, and analytics for efficient customer routing. They synthesize actionable insights from interactions and communicate them to internal medical and cross-functional teams. MSLs cultivate networks, collaborate with field colleagues, and ensure compliant partnerships.
MSLs exercise strategic vision, good judgement, and agility amid evolving business needs. Through these efforts, MSLs shape the future of healthcare by informing Lilly's research and commercialization direction.
Requirements
- Deep content knowledge of Immunology/Rheumatology therapeutic area, Lilly and competitive compounds
- Proven ability to engage SEs/CEs as trusted scientific and medical resource
- Emotional intelligence, strategic thinking, and understanding of customer needs
- Proficiency in territory analytics, strategic planning, and prioritization
- Strong skills in synthesizing and communicating clinical insights internally
- Experience building internal networks and cross-functional collaboration
- Strategic agility, good judgement, and ability to escalate issues appropriately
- Commitment to innovation, change, and Team Lilly Behaviors
Responsibilities
- Engage in continuous learning to maintain highest level of technical expertise in Immunology/Rheumatology
- Respond to diverse medical information needs through scientific exchange with SEs/CEs
- Establish as reliable, trusted resource for unbiased, accurate, up-to-date medical information
- Spend majority of time on customer-facing activities to deliver positive customer experience
- Connect SEs/CEs with Lilly resources, internal partners, and collaborative research opportunities
- Implement and evaluate strategic territory plan prioritizing core MSL activities
- Synthesize and communicate actionable customer and clinical insights to internal teams
- Collaborate across functions, share customers compliantly, and demonstrate Team Lilly Behaviors
